Unlike the previous entries in the series, which focused on Stark’s rise as a superhero, Iron Man 3 deconstructed the character. Following the Battle of New York, Tony Stark (Robert Downey Jr.) is suffering from panic attacks and insomnia. He is obsessively building an army of Iron Man suits to cope with his anxiety, straining his relationship with Pepper Potts (Gwyneth Paltrow).
