The movie takes place six months after the events of the first film, where Jim (John Cumming) and Selena (Imogen Poots) are living in a cottage in the countryside. They are rescued by a military unit led by Major Scott (Robert Carlyle) and taken to a fortified hospital in London, where they are to be kept in quarantine.
