This paper introduces the concept of Tollyplay , a grassroots fan practice combining role-playing gaming with the narrative and aesthetic elements of Tollywood (Bengali film industry). Drawing on ethnographic observation of online fan communities and analysis of play scripts, I argue that Tollyplay functions as a mode of participatory fandom, cultural preservation, and identity negotiation for Bengali diaspora youth. The paper positions Tollyplay within performance studies, game studies, and South Asian film reception.
