Each painting has awareness. Some track your movement. Some only move when you blink (the game tracks this if using a webcam, or simulates it with a "blink" button). Some are safe. Some are not.

The name itself draws from a blend of cultural heritages. "Laurita" originates as a diminutive, affectionate Spanish form of Laura (meaning "laurel," symbolizing victory or honor), while "Vella" holds deep Mediterranean and Italian roots. This blend reflects the cosmopolitan nature of digital art collections, which routinely break geographic boundaries to bring diverse global aesthetics into a single space. The gallery serves as a physical extension of Laurita’s activism. Beyond the Silhouette Project , the space has been used to host socially conscious events, demonstrating her commitment to using art as a catalyst for change.
The represents a distinctive intersection of classical artistic curation and modern aesthetic expression. Often sought after by collectors, interior designers, and fine art enthusiasts, the space—both in its physical and curated digital portfolios—focuses on bringing exceptional visual art, fine photography, and sculptural pieces into the public eye.
A significant iteration of this project is "The Silhouette Project: Newcomers," which features images of refugees who have settled in the Denver area. Working with students from the "Newcomer" program—designed for youth who are new to the U.S. with little to no English proficiency—Laurita used journals and interviews to document their lives. The resulting visual journey is incredibly poignant, reminding viewers that "home is a feeling, not a place".
