Security researchers at Kaspersky (Securelist) documented a campaign called —a malware dropper that spreads primarily through websites offering cracks, keygens, and activators. These websites manipulate search engine rankings to appear at the top of results when users search for activation tools. When a user downloads and executes what they believe is an activator, NullMixer proceeds to drop a dozen or more malware families onto their system, including backdoors, credential stealers, spyware, bankers, and downloaders.
